“Mere enthusiasm is the all in all…. Passion and expression are beauty itself” – William Blake

Cathy is hugely passionate about the powerful positive effects of boxing especially that it helped her through extremely hard times and to cope with childhood events and she can relate to some of traumas the women and girls have experienced.

Cathy has developed a boxing and mental heath charity called HEADGUARD® CHARITY (www.headguard.info) and works with a few smaller charities using boxing and mental workshops to empower and strengthen mental health. Her vision is to visit areas around the World where women and girls have experienced trauma in the form of sexual assault, war experience, sexual slavery, trafficking or any other form of life-altering situations.  Not only have they been through horrific abuse but a lot of these women and children have lost their families and are unable to work as they may have no education.  The charity aims to not only help them cope with traumas but to teach them a trade to be able to earn a living. The mission is to make the women and children self-sufficient with physical and mental coping strategies.

Alongside Greg Williams, they want to make sure the women and girls are able to understand boxing and teach boxing safely by running boxing classes and a Boxology® (www.boxology.academy) course (courses they run in the UK for sports coaches/personal trainers to teach them how to coach boxing) daily. The Boxology® course will be delivered separately to a couple of women, so when they leave the women can teach boxing and carry on this effective therapy to the girls that need help, whilst also earning a living.

We aim to help the women and girls understand how to be independent with mind work and coping mechanisms, by also running mind workshops and mental health strategies classes. These workshops and classes will be run daily. It is imperative that good metal health strategies are put into place, so the women and girls feel they have a box of great mental coping strategy tools.
